And she shouldn't be...But you know...She doesn't have the full support of her management that she should. I'm no stan or anything, but from what I've heard of her album it has the potential to do really well if given the chance. If Matthew took some time and promoted someone besides Beyonce maybe the other Music World Music artists could have a chance. That wasn't a slight at Beyonce or anything. You all know I'm a big fan, but she isn't the only one that deserves some shine. Blah, oh well...

Bernie Mac has been hospitalized for pneumonia in Chicago.

A message from his rep:
"Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon,"

"He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well."

The rep also confirms that the pneumonia is not related to sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease that Bernie was diagnosed with back in 2005.

I was perusing the innawebs and ran across some blog entries on another site that made me kinda sad. I think blog beef is about as silly as the beef between Soulja Boy and Ice-T. Plain and simple there aren't very many black people in the blogosphere and I don't see the point in arguing over petty stuff. Is it just to get people to read your blog? Where is this beef getting you? I am all for a good joke, but I think some people take it too far. I am not picking sides in this "war", but I would hope that two adult women could settle their differences a little better. But...I guess that isn't the case. I guess, just like in the real world, black people are destined to tear each other down.

But who cares? I get like 10 hits a day and 7 of them are from me :) So who cares what I think? I just had to get it off my chest. Work it out ladies, in a more mature way!

I came across this article on People where Re-Re is complaining about Beyonce calling Tina "The Queen". An exact quote from the article:

"I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy. In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyoncé anyway."

I mean...Really Aretha...Was this worth releasing a statement over? I like Beyonce and Tina but it's not like either one of them can hold a candle to your voice. So why would you give two poo-poos 'bout what they think of you? Maybe it's just that Beyonce idolizes Tina and was mentioning that TINA was HER queen? Or that Beyonce was just "reading" what was given to her with no questions asked? Basically, the LAST thing you need to be worried about is what they think and more so about your health boo-boo. You have CLEARLY fallen off of your diet. I love you to death Aretha, but I sure would hate to have bury you 'cause you can't put down the hot dogs.

Hey..I haven't done a post like this in a while. Basically, I am doing a post about an artist that needs to come out with a new album ASAP. Today's feature will be Maxwell. Maxwell had many R&B hits in the 90s and early 00s. One of my favorite songs by him is "Fortunate"

Anyway, Maxwell has not released an album since 2001's Now. So it's time for him to stop playing games and go ahead and release that album he promised to release.....last year. We'll see if that new project, Black Summer's Night will actually see the light of day.

Your boy Brian Nichols is at it again. He alledgely formed a plot to escape an Atlanta jail along with the help of his girlfriend, two deputies, and a paralegal (WTF?).

"Brian Nichols allegedly plotted to cut his way through the cinderblock walls of the Fulton County Jail, jump into a waiting van and make his way to his girlfriend up north."

A mess.

If you don't recall, Brian Nichols was the fella that killed 4 people and pistol whipped another as he escaped a Fulton County jail in 2005. He later held a woman hostage for a couple of days until he finally surrendered.

Several stories popping off in the religious world...

First up, a Christian group, The Resistance, is asking for Fiddy to be true to his word and retire since he did not outsell Kanye West. Mark Dice, a rep for the group says, "It is time for 50 cent to be a man of his word, and retire. The world will be a better place when this satanic piece of filth retires and stops making music." That's real Christian like. SMH. Anyhoo, the group is encouraging members to leave messages on 50's Myspace asking him to "shun Satan" and live up to his word. I'm no 50 fan, but this was a bit much. For me at least.

Next up, televangelists are under investigation for shady financial practices. According to ajc.com:

"The Rev. Creflo Dollar of World Changers Church in International in College Park said his team of legal experts is reviewing a request for financial records from Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), head of the Senate Finance Committee."

Another Atlantan televangelist, Eddie Long, is also under investigation. They are two among six televangelists throughout the country that are being investigated by the committee.

None of the televangelists are really suspected of any wrong doing, but questions are being asked.

"Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, is facing felony aggravated assault charges.

Witnesses told police the incident started with an argument between Harris, 33, and a waitress at Studio 72, a club owned by Jermaine Dupri, the Atlanta record producer and rapper.
The argument escalated to shoving, witnesses said; then Harris is accused of grabbing a bottle of rum and hitting the waitress in the face. The victim was taken to the hospital with cuts on her face and above her eye.

Harris is being held at the DeKalb County jail."

Jennifer Hudson has been tapped to play Carrie Bradshaw's assistant in the big-screen adaptation of Sex and the City. The movie will begin shooting next week and will star all the original characters from the HBO series.

Hudson won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Effie in Dreamgirls. She just finished up filming a drama called Winged Creatures co-starring Forest Whitaker (no wonky eye jokes from me...this time) and Kate Beckinsale.

Her debut album is set to be released in early 2008.

Hmm...we'll see how this all turns out....

Okay...Big surprise! Britney was HORRIBLE at the VMAs. Though I did not catch one second of the show because I was bogged down in school work I heard it was the yawn of 2007. I mean...seriously folks...it's MTV. They have lost all relevancy since they started showing them heffas Lindsay and Heidi and all that Laguna Beach and The Hills foolishness. They set Britney up and she fell for the trap. It's OBVIOUS this child is not well. Don't get me wrong..I'm not taking up for her. She is responsible for her current condition. But MTV knew what the hell they were doing. They wanted people to watch a train wreck tonight. I have never been a Britney stan, but I didn't hate her either (Play some "Toxic" and see me lose it on the dancefloor). Some folks have taken it too far with the criticism. Police are looking for 18 year old Troy Hill this morning. He is wanted for stabbing his twin brothers, Tyron and Tyrel. Tyrel survived the attack, however, Tyron died from his injuries. The mother was unable to reach the boys from work and asked their grandfather, Lovett Williams to check on them. When he arrived, he made the gruesome discovery in the basement of the home. The surviving twin identified his older brother, Troy, as the attacker.

I hope they find him and beat him silly. Naw, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, right? Right.

I nearly soiled myself because I thought Mama Tina had worked her CREOLE! magic on President Bush and scored herself a day of eating gumbo and peddling Miss Tina to George and Laura.

Thankfully, this story was about an ACTUAL Creole woman named Leah Chase who is known as the "Queen of Creole" in New Orleans.

Televangelist Juanita Bynum was roughed up by her Pentacostal preacher husband, Thomas Weeks III, at a hotel parking lot of Renaissance Concourse Hotel in Atlanta, GA. Weeks is the founder of the Global Destiny church.

At about 4 a.m., the estranged couple got into an argument. They fought until a hotel employee pulled Weeks off Bynum.

"She was bruised up and battered," Campbell said. "She had purple bruising around her neck and upper torso."

No charges have been filed.

Damn.

Congrats to Common for landing his first #1 debut on the Billboard charts! Common moved 155,000 copies of his 7th album, Finding Forever. The album features production from Kanye West and guest appearances by Lily Allen and Dwele.

Common recently released a statement to AHH discussing his success. He says,

“If I tell you a story about some spacey astrology thing that's because I’ve experienced it or I’ve been next to somebody who experienced it, if I tell you a story about selling some dope or getting robbed or shot that’s because I’m next to the person that knows the person it happened to… I rap from a truthful place.”

There has been much controversy surrounding Bonds. He has been accused of using steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. However, the accusations have not been validated.

Anyway, I'm not going to hate (right now...). Congrats Barry!

Lil Flip was arrested in Houston for his connection in a credit card scam according to XXL.

XXL reports:

"According to the Houston Chronicle, the rapper is accused of purchasing a $671.00 Southwest Airlines ticket from Houston to Baltimore on June 8 over the phone about an hour before the flight was scheduled to take off. The ticket was purchased with the credit card of a man named Jordan Salinger, who informed authorities that he did not authorize the purchase. Flip told police that the ticket was bought by a man named Kevin Frank, who in turn denies knowing Flip or making the purchase."

Lil Flip turned himself into the police at the Harris County courthouse on Saturday. He posted a $2,000 bond and was released. He is due in court on Monday, July 23.

So this is the way you ball Lil Flip? Ha.

St. Louis Mayor, Francis Slay, will NOT proclaim September 2nd as "Ike Turner Day". Ike, along with Tina, were frequent performers in the St. Louis nightclubs.

However, Ike's abusive ways and problems with drugs deterred Slay from giving Ike Turner a special day.

Ike's response: "They don't know the man I know. This ain't 1962."

Congratulations to Venus Williams on winning the 2007 Wimbledon title. This is Venus' fourth Wimbledon title also winning the titles in 2000, 2001, and 2005. Venus went to Wimbledon ranking 31st and left with the title. She also became the fourth woman (and first African-American woman) to win four Wimbledon titles. She was not ranked at #1 during any of her wins. Now that's what you call an athlete. Good job Venus!

I was over @ Teedra Moses' Myspace page and noticed that she had a new song called "You Already Know" featuring Lil Weasel. The beat to the song is the same one used by Fiddy in his mess of a song called "Amusement Park." Well, I'm sure you heard the gossip about Fiddy using the beat, which was produced by Chris Styles of Dangerous LLC, after Jim Jones used it in his song "Your Majesty" for DJ Drama's mixtape. Fiddy denied using the recycled beat.
